Duke Energy Coal Ash Spill Protest
Days after Duke EnergyÕs coal ash dump began leaking hazardous chemicals into the Dan River in North Carolina, dozens of Charlotte activists and concerned citizens including Clean Air Carolina board member Danielle Hilton protest outside the companyÕs headquarters on February 6, 2014 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The group was demanding Duke clean up its toxic waste. Tens of thousands of tons of toxic coal ash continue to spill into the Dan River, which provides drinking water for people in Danville, Virginia and beyond. Photo by Jason Miczek
