02.24.2014 Reprimand [New Hanover County]

John J. Peck received a reprimand from the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar on February 24, 2014.  The reprimand was based on Peck’s concurrent representation of two clients – one of whom was a personal friend – in the same loan transaction.  According to the Grievance Committee, the dual representation caused Peck’s duty of loyalty to be materially limited.  The conflict constitutes a violation of Rule 1.7 of the North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct.
